Suzzallo is a Seattle-based rock band formed by singer/songwriter Rocky Votolato as a way to process the profound grief following the loss of his child in a car accident. Departing from his acoustic solo work, Suzzallo's sound embraces heavy, fuzzed-out alternative rock with strong 1990s influences.
The band features bassist Steve Bonnell (formerly of Schoolyard Heroes) and drummer Rudy Gajadhar (formerly of Waxwing). Their debut album, The Quiet Year, produced by John Goodmanson, is set for release on May 2, 2025. The album also features contributions from Ben Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie, The Postal Service) on vocals, guitar, and piano.
The lead single, River, captures the band's raw energy, blending Smashing Pumpkins-style riffs with Votolato's emotive vocals, while the follow-up single, Tsunami Waves, highlights Gibbard’s instrumental touch. Suzzallo's music explores themes of loss and healing, transforming deep personal pain into cathartic, powerful rock.
