Big Dirt, one of Seattle's best kept secrets, plays rockin' alt-Americana served up with groovin' mando-sax goodness. With a new lineup of veterans from the local rock and national jazz scenes, the latest incarnation features founding guitarist/songwriter, UW professor, and MacArthur "genius" Dave Montgomery along with Dan "the mandolinian" Brown, Bryan Ubaghs on drums, Gary Ehret on bass, and Leonard Sklar on saxophone. Their sound blends Classic Rock, Alt-Americana, and New Country with hints of Blues and Bluegrass to shape a fresh harmony rich, electro-acoustic sound. Their live sets mix their healthy catalog of originals with new takes on classics by The Band, Gordon Lightfoot, Grateful Dead, Son Volt, Patty Griffin and others. Based in Seattle, Big Dirt has played venues from California to Alaska and Minnesota. Their sixth album Beyond Mars will be released in the spring of 2025.
