Nakarat
(Balkan)
Nakarat is a San Francisco-based duo featuring Duygu Gun on guitars and vocals and Jonathan Kipp on accordion. Our music is a vibrant, emotional melange of folk songs in Turkish, Ladino, Greek, Griko, and Italian. A Mediterranean breeze with spicy nomadic tunes from the region.
Jubilee American Dance Theatre
(Americana)
Jubilee American Dance Theatre is a unique performance ensemble, bringing to life the dances, music, songs, and stories of the folks who made America. From Appalachia to Swing Era dance halls to Cajun Country, America's immigrants and more, Jubilee transports you to another time and place, through its rich weaving of stories, songs, dance, and music. Jubilee's work is all set in context with period costumes and props. The costume staff goes to great lengths to research and reproduce authentic costumes of each era. Likewise, the choral and music directors recreate regional and historical musical styles.
Chinyakare Ensemble
(Zimbabwe, Southern Africa)
The Chinyakare Ensemble is a family of musicians, dancers, and teachers committed to preserving and sharing traditional Zimbabwean culture and promoting community building and education through music and dance. Chinyakare presents an electrifying performance of the traditional dance, music, and culture of Zimbabwe and Southern Africa. The music (played on mbira, ngoma, marimbas, and chipendani), songs, and dance weave colorful stories that show scenes from everyday life while teaching important life lessons, such as goal-setting, perseverance, and thankfulness. Chinyakare gives audiences a glimpse of the beauty, excitement, and spirit of traditional African dance and song
Tri Tip Trio
(Cajun, Zydeco, New Orleans Blues)
Bruce and Lloyd's musical chemistry began in 1991 with the formation of the Zydeco Flames. Their magic sounds come alive again with the Tri Tip Trio. With Lloyd's mesmerizing washboard, harmonica, and soulful vocals, Bruce's funky, bluesy accordion, and Tyler's stick-to-it-and-do-it drums, Tri Tip is a fireball of hot dance hall music.
