The acoustic jazz ensemble Rhythm Future Quartet has a clear mission: to keep the spirit of Gypsy jazz alive and expanding in today’s musical landscape. Named after a Django Reinhardt tune, this virtuosic foursome blends the classic sound of the Hot Club of France with a fresh, contemporary approach. Founded by violinist Jason Anick, the quartet performs dynamic and lyrical arrangements of both Gypsy jazz standards and original compositions, drawing on diverse international rhythms and musical idioms. With Max O’Rourke, Henry Acker, and Greg Loughman rounding out the group, Rhythm Future is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of this vital musical genre.

The fall of 2018 marked the release of their newest album, Rhythm Future Quartet and Friends, which features the critically acclaimed singer Cyrille Aimée, Brazil’s top bandolim player Hamilton de Holanda, and world-renowned guitarist Stochelo Rosenberg. While maintaining the effervescent lilt, virtuosic musicianship, and adventurous musical leanings of their previous recordings—including Rhythm Future Quartet and Travels (named one of the best jazz albums of 2016 by All About Jazz and The Huffington Post)—RFQ and Friends introduces vibrant new elements to their sound. JazzTimes magazine described the album as "packed to the gills with feeling and consistently dynamic, full of virtuosity and swing." With its captivating blend of Hot Club of France-style string jazz, Brazilian and Eastern European influences, original compositions, and subtle classical hints, the album marks a significant step in the band's evolution. The quartet’s growing popularity is reflected in their online presence, with over four million views on YouTube for their version of Django Reinhardt’s "Minor Swing" and more than three million Facebook views for their video of "Bushwick Stomp" from Travels.

Jason Anick, an award-winning composer and violin professor at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, has shared the stage with a wide range of artists, including Grammy-winning guitarist John Jorgenson, Stevie Wonder, The Jim Kweskin Jug Band, and Tommy Emmanuel. Henry Acker, a young jazz guitar prodigy, performs both in the style of Django Reinhardt and traditional jazz. A child prodigy who began playing at age 8 and performing professionally at 9, his extraordinary talent has led him to perform with jazz greats such as Bucky Pizzarelli, Frank Vignola, Julian Lage, Bireli Lagrene, and Vic Juris. He is also a five-time winner of the Downbeat Magazine Student Award for jazz guitar soloist.

Guitarist Max O’Rourke, winner of the 2015 Saga Award from DjangoFest Northwest, has already made a name for himself in the American Gypsy jazz scene, having toured and recorded with top musicians like John Jorgenson and Gonzalo Bergara. Bassist Greg Loughman is a highly sought-after musician in Boston, having performed with luminaries such as Sheila Jordan, Curtis Fuller, and George Garzone.

Together, the Rhythm Future Quartet continues to innovate and captivate audiences with their unique blend of Gypsy jazz and beyond.

The DiTrani Brothers, with their bent melodies and driving rhythms, play “perilous tunes for the hopeful,” blending elements of Balkan music and early American jazz/swing. They deliver both wistful and raucous performances at venues ranging from The House of Blues in New Orleans to DIY backyard stages. Hailing from North Bend, WA, brothers Bobby and Walker DiTrani began writing songs together while traveling the country, playing music on the streets. Since then, they've recorded two albums and toured the US with drummer Eddie Gaudet. Now a quartet, with acoustic bassist Benjamin Richards, they have just released their third album, Dust Harvest.
