As one of the staples of Chicago's 90s wave of DJs, Derrick Carter is a worldwide champion of his home city's House Music sound. An artist with music in the blood, Carter's accolades began with stints at local hotspots Shelter and SmartBar before taking him into international tastemaker territory, playing to sold-out crowds at some of the world's most renowned nightspots and festivals. If you have not experienced a Derrick Carter set rooted in House and frequently ravelling to realms of old-school disco, soul, and jazz, they are testaments to the roots, as well as the future of the underground. And, as a celebrated producer and label head to boot, Carter has cemented himself as an undeniable giant of the scene and one of its most beloved. On August 20, MeanRed and Marble Bar proudly welcomes Derrick Carter to Detroit for an evening of Windy City sounds.
