Grande Orquesta Navarre
A Musical Supergroup with a Twist
Grande Orquesta Navarre is a powerhouse ensemble of Colorado musicians, blending tango, classical, and original compositions into a sound that’s both delightfully nostalgic and refreshingly modern. Their eclectic programs span the evocative tangos of Astor Piazzolla and the timeless works of Tchaikovsky, while shining a spotlight on the imaginative compositions of Tom Hagerman, a member of the acclaimed rock band DeVotchKa.
A Name with a Story
Formed in 2016, the group’s name draws inspiration from the whimsical, imagined sounds of Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel, the Orquesta Típica (a traditional tango band), and Denver’s historic Navarre building, once a Victorian-era brothel turned local landmark.
