Doyennes of Disc, created by resident DJ Monday Blue in 2015, is a vinyl dance party featuring all women disc jockeys playing their favorite selections to create dance floor bliss. Doyennes is celebrating Women's History Month with a panel and dance party at The Kite. Panelists include Quinnette (Soul Purpose), DJ Tara (Donuts Are Forever), and Alexandria Sadé (Black Girls Love Vinyl) discussing their experiences building successful events and community with moderator Chinisha Scott. Vinyl vibes will be provided before and after the panel by DJ Selly F, Zuzuka Poderosa, and DJ Monday Blue. Special guest poet Tangie Mitchell (Watering Hole Poetry Fellow), accompanied by Monday Blue, will read an original piece in honor of the occasion.
Iconoclastic daughter of the Southern Diaspora turned BK tastemaker, DJ Monday Blue is a vinyl priestess with digital flex. A featured DJ at NYC's Soho Grand Hotel, she's powered stages for Soul in the Horn, Black Girls Love Vinyl, 651 Arts, Virgin Hotels NYC, The Pulitzer Prizes, Andscape, and The Meteor, effortlessly bending genres and energizing diverse cultural spaces. Creator of Doyennes of Disc—a vinyl party celebrating women selectors—she continues to push sonic boundaries and grow community.
