The NYC-based band draws inspiration from both the past and present, clearly influenced by the legends of the 1940s-1960s, such as Tadd Dameron, Joe Henderson, Benny Golson, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, Bud Powell, Ahmad Jamal, Bobby Timmons, and Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, among others. At the same time, they are inspired by contemporary greats like Tardo Hammer, Joe Farnsworth’s Time to Swing, the 11th St. Bar Quintet, Grant Stewart, Michael Kanan, and more.
Rather than limiting their sound to terms like "Hard-Bop," "Be-Bop," or "Modern Jazz," the band's music blends these styles with the Great American Songbook and classical influences. The result is a sound characterized by a strong swing feel, lyrical melodies, simple yet sophisticated harmonies, and dynamic communication between musicians, built on attentive listening and interaction.
Iftah and Dan have been collaborating for a decade in various settings, honing their skills and establishing themselves as solid sidemen in NYC. They’ve played with masters such as Grant Stewart, Pasquale Grasso, Eric Alexander, John Webber, Joe Farnsworth, Joe Magnarelli, Johnny O'Neal, Chris Flory, and Fukushi Tainaka, to name a few. They also perform regularly at renowned venues like Smalls Jazz Club, Mezzrow, Smoke, Ornithology, Zinc Bar, and Fat Cat (now Cellar Dog).
While building their careers, they have also focused on their combined project as leaders, working on tunes, chord progressions, stage presence, and everything in between. Aleksi moved to NYC and quickly made an impact on the jazz scene, playing with former members of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, including pianist/vocalist Johnny O'Neal and legendary bassist Tyler Mitchell, among others.
The three musicians discovered a strong musical connection, sharing a deep love for music driven by heavy swing, rich harmonies, and captivating melodies. The band regularly performs all over the city, holding residencies at Ornithology Jazz Club, Winnie's Jazz Bar, The Ivy Room, and more.
The trio recorded their debut album, set to be released in spring 2025.
