Verboten writes charming, folky pop songs about disillusionment. Songwriter Foster Powell pairs bright, melodic hooks with poetic lyrics and a sound indebted to 90s-era alt rock. The band has toured for several years in the Northeast USA, recently relocating to Bellingham, WA and releasing their first full-length, Life Expectancy, in 2024. Blending heartfelt, confessional lyrics with intimate instrumentation, Claire Conway is a songwriter and storyteller with an ear for authenticity. With a wise-beyond-her years level of poise and introspection that draws comparisons to contemporary folk-minded songwriters like Leith Ross and Eliza McLamb, Claire draws listeners in with hushed guitar melodies, warm vocals, and compelling lyrical meditations on the birth and death of love, growing up, and self-discovery.
