Celebrating the birthday of the legendary pianist Horace Silver. You'll surely hear some of his well-known classics as well as some of his lesser known gems. Probably a few will be... re-imagined. Come witness and celebrate with us. Horace Ward Martin Tavares Silver: (September 2, 1928 – June 18, 2014) Was the co-leader with Art Blakey of the world-renown Jazz Messengers before breaking away to feature his own quintet, and penning some of the most widely known classic jazz standards such as "Song for My Father", "Sister Sadie" and "Doodlin'". Known as one of the fathers of hardbop with his percussive & bluely style made him one of the most influential pianist and composers of the 1950's. Always honored to have veteran pianist Dave Hanson(and in the hot seat). Along with Muse Performance Space staples bassist Gape Rupe and drummer Braxton Kahn. On the front line, we have New York City/Duke Ellington Orchestra ex-member Stafford Hunter on trombone/shells and trumpet phenom Eric Benny Bloom; member of "Lettuce", one of the most critically-acclaimed funk bands in the world today. Fortunate to have him available for a date in Colorado. You don't want t miss this one!
