Animal Prince
Animal Prince is the retro-pop project from singer-violinist Fae Nageon de Lestang and percussionist Grant McLeod, ft. some of the Bay Area’s best artists. Fae’s vocals are a captivating instrument, drawing the listener into a landscape that’s playful yet polished, soulful but never self-serious, layered with string arrangements, synth grooves, hooks, harmonies and the occasional actual birdsong. Borrowing from bossa nova, indie folk, yacht rock and chamber pop, Animal Prince would be at home on a mix with Rhye, Caroline Polachek, or The Beach Boy’s Pet Sounds, but the sound is uniquely their own: tender, danceable and delightfully feral.
Seafoam Walls
Founded in 2014 in Miami by singer and guitarist Jayan Bertrand, Seafoam Walls expanded with the addition of bassist Joshua Ewers, multi-instrumentalist Dion Kerr and drummer Josue Vargas. The band's debut album, XVI, got a boost in national attention when Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth released it on his Daydream Library Series label. This attracted the attention of outlets such as Afropunk, Spin and Pitchfork, who were uniform in their admiration. But even with the band's apt and efficient genre-branding, XVI remains otherworldly and addictive — kind of like the city that spawned it.
Katara
Seth Lynn and Natalie DePergola make up the core of Katara. Experimental, virtuosic harp playing over steady, deep grooves carried by lush harmony. We hope it brings joy and is thought provoking, that meaning can be found in it. “These Days” the album; is our introduction to the world. Pulling from everything we love to create something that feels unique to us. Making music for the sake of making music, and making something beautiful and meaningful.
