Social
Halloween Edition · Sunday, November 1 · NEW LOCATION: La Sala Rossa
A Contratiempo is back on Sunday, November 1 and this time, we’re moving into a new home!
Join us for our next Queer Afro-Latin Dance Social, a space to learn, dance, connect, and share
the floor in a community rooted in consent, care, accessibility, and joy.
HALLOWEEN EDITION
And because it’s Halloween weekend… costumes are very welcome! Come dressed up, ad
a little something to your dance-floor look, or simply come as you are. Costumes are completely
optional.
Coming in costume? You could win a private dance class with Mimi! We’ll be holding a
Halloween costume contest during the social, so get creative and have fun with it. Costumes are
always optional & participating in the contest is too!
SCHEDULE
5:00 PM: Doors open
5:30 PM: Bachata class with Mimi
6:30 PM onward: Social dancing with DJ Nath + DJ AM
New to Afro-Latin social dancing? You’re welcome here. No partner and no previous dance
experience are needed. Come for the class, the social, or both.
SLIDING-SCALE TICKETS
Our tickets are offered on a sliding scale because we believe that accessibility and equity
should be part of how we build community.
A Contratiempo is 100% volunteer-run, while remaining committed to paying the artists who
make our events possible fairly. We invite you to choose the ticket tier that feels most equitable
for your situation. Choosing a higher tier when you can helps us keep lower-cost options
available to others and sustain our events.
CONSENT + COMMUNITY CARE
A Contratiempo is a consent-centered dance space. We want everyone to feel respected and
able to make choices about how, when, and with whom they dance.
By purchasing a ticket, you agree to our shared Code of Conduct, which helps us collectively
create a safer, more respectful and welcoming space for everyone.
Please read our Code of Conduct before joining us.
Come as you are. Come dressed up if you want. Come dance with us.
