The popular stop-animation duo Wallace and Gromit, beloved characters from Aardman Animations, are known for their delightful adventures. The concert includes a special movie screening as the Boulder Phil brings the soundtracks of A Grand Day Out, The Wrong Trousers, and A Matter of Loaf and Deat to life. Whether you’re a fan of cheese-loving inventors, silent but expressive dogs, or simply enjoy live orchestral performances, Wallace and Gromit are sure to bring joy to the whole family!
Dr. Shawn Trenell O’Neal is an Assistant Teaching Professor and Director of Community Engagement Internships in the Department of Ethnic Studies, an Executive Committee Member of the Center for African and African American Studies (CAAAS), and a renowned DJ and audio producer. Dr. O'Neal is also an Assistant Director of the Rap Lab in the School of Education and a founding member of Lyripeutics Storytelling: Remixing Our Reality Through Hip Hop Education. His research includes African American studies, Africana studies, musicology, ethnomusicology, queer and trans of color critique, and women of color feminisms. Dr. O'Neal developed an interdisciplinary and intersectional theoretical concept called Audio Intersectionality. Audio Intersectionality are interdisciplinary herstories and histories, active responses, self-narratives, self-defenses, traumas, and celebrations, regarding race, gender, and sexuality communicated through sound, music, and performance. His dissertation is titled "Audio Intersectionality: Self-Identification Within the Processes of Interdisciplinary Explorations in Sound, Music, and Performance." Dr. O’Neal’s work appears in Routledge Handbook of Pan-Africanism (2020).
Dr. O'Neal will be performing an all-vinyl record the live scoring of Eloyce King Patrick Gist’s silent film, Hell-Bound Train (1930), from the African American silent-cinema tradition.
