Musical Style: Bossa Nova & Samba
Formed in 1985, Trio da Paz redefines Brazilian jazz through harmonically adventurous interplay and dazzling rhythm.
2027 marks the centennial of two musical titans, Antônio Carlos Jobim and Stan Getz. Together they are recognized for popularizing the bossa nova and the sounds of Brazil worldwide. Their masterpiece recordings, Jazz Samba and Getz/Gilberto, are two of the most influential and best-selling albums of all time.
Getz/Gilberto was widely acclaimed by music critics and features the massive worldwide hit “The Girl from Ipanema,” which received Grammy Awards for Best Jazz Instrumental Album, Individual or Group, and became the first non-American album to win Album of the Year.
The Centennial celebration will feature Trio da Paz — three of Brazil’s storied and in-demand musicians: guitarist Romero Lubambo, bassist Nilson Matta, and drummer Duduka Da Fonseca. Joining the group will be longtime Jobim vocalist Maucha Adnet and tenor saxophonist and Getz aficionado Harry Allen.
This lineup has been a recurring feature of Trio da Paz’s celebrated summer residencies at Dizzy’s Club (Jazz at Lincoln Center) in New York, where Harry Allen and Maucha Adnet have appeared as frequent guest artists on the group’s Jobim/Getz-themed programs.

Maucha Adnet
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Adnet began performing professionally at 15. From 1984–1994 she toured, recorded, and performed worldwide with Antonio Carlos Jobim and his band Banda Nova, appearing on four albums together including the Grammy-winning Antonio Brasileiro. She has also recorded with Dorival Caymmi and Chico Buarque, guested on Randy Brecker’s Grammy-winning Into the Sun, and performs regularly with Trio da Paz.

Harry Allen
A leading voice of the swing-tenor tradition, Allen has recorded more than 70 albums as a leader, including Viva! Bossa Nova and Something About Jobim. Frequently compared to Scott Hamilton, with whom he has recorded, Allen draws on the lineage of Coleman Hawkins, Ben Webster, and Stan Getz. He was inducted into the Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame in 2024.
