Since1991, the Slackers have released fifteen albums and countless singles, while their 1000s of live
performances feed their fans with energetic sets of ecstatic music.
The Slackers have been called “the Sound of New York” the New York Times. They were described by Brooklyn Vegan as a “clean mix of Ska, Reggae, and Soul that gets dirtied up by Vic Ruggiero’s tough New York accent.”
In April 2022, The Slackers released a new album, “Don't Let The Sunlight Fool Ya” (Pirates Press) which quickly sho the top of the US Billboard charts. The first time that a Slackers’ album has charted! Ironically after 30 years as a band, they qualified as a Billboard ‘new artist!’ The Washington Post noted that the Slackers “remain at the top of their game.”
In 2024 the Slackers continued this momentum with 93 live shows of which 18 were sell outs. They also released a single, “What We Gonna Do Now / Pick + Choose” (Pirates Press) and reissued their classic album from 2003, ‘Close My Eyes’.
In 2025, they have booked 90 shows in the United States, Canada, and Europe. Their newest single, “The One That Took Away My Last Star” is to be released May 2024 on Pirates Press Records. This will be a posthumous collaboration with / and tribute to the late, great Greg Lee of Hepcat.
Created by Colorado-based couple Shelby and Nathen Maxwell (of Flogging Molly) - explores universal themes of life, love, and death through dark alternative rock, stylish post-punk motifs, and disarmingly frank lyricism. Volores’ broad appeal lies in its raw channeling of the mortal condition, including mental health struggles that they’ve not only experienced, but experienced together. Simple, yet effortlessly beautiful, their debut album ‘AGES’ celebrated the shared musical passions that brought the Maxwells together – from Leonard Cohen and Elliot Smith to The Cure and Interpol – through unfiltered expressions that cast deeply personal shadows in plain sight, coated only in intuitive melody and elegant songcraft.
