Musical Style: Jazz
Hailing from diverse musical backgrounds and united by their shared passion for the saxophone, The Sax Syndicate is a dynamic and electrifying septet composed of a four saxophonists accompanied by a full rhythm section. Inspired by the iconic group, Supersax. The Sax Syndicate combines their individual virtuosity to create a seamless blend of harmonies, exhilarating solos, and infectious rhythms. This show will pay tribute to the great Horace Silver.
Pianist Horace Silver had the longest stay of the Blue Note Recording artists, making albums for them from 1952 to 1980. He co-founded the Jazz Messengers with Art Blakey and pioneered the hard-bop style, which combined elements of blues, gospel, and R&B with bebop-based harmony and rhythm. Composing many jazz standards, including Señor Blues, Nica’s Dream, Doodlin’, Sister Sadie, and many more, his influence is vast. His most popular album “Song for my Father” was added to the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999.
