Father Koi” is the moniker under which NYC-based songwriter/producer/multi-instrumentalist Kara Lu releases yearning electro-dreampop for fans of vintage manga, 90s video games, and the heyday of FRUiTS™ magazine. Her sophomore album "everything is a dream, but it is your dream" reflects her contemplative and deep-feeling nature, exploring themes such as ambition, self-perception, and unrequited affection. Father Koi detours slightly from her electronic style in her latest EP, "talk sweet, strike gold," opting for acoustic instrumentation that gives an indie-alternative color to her delicate vocals (a continued hallmark of “everything is a dream” and “Late Afternoon National Anthem”). From “vocaloid figurines” perched on bedroom shelves to the “glittery girls” modeling in FRUiTS™ magazine, Father Koi is for the “Bittersweet” ones: loving, yearning, and ruminating (but only a little bit)
