Musical Style: Jazz
Chantil Dukart is an award-winning contemporary jazz pianist, composer and vocalist with roots in the Tsimshian and Sugpiaq tribes of Alaska. Chantil will be performing with special guest Eric Wheeler, one of the premiere jazz bassists in New York who has performed with notable artists including Pharoah Sanders, Terell Stafford, DeeDee BridgeWater and Jazzmeia Horn. This iteration of the Dukes of Art Trio will also feature the energetic and incredibly talented Isaac Teel, drummer of the band Tauk who brings funk and gospel chops all over the world including Madison Square Garden and Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
Come see the late set at Dazzle May 31st to experience the powerhouse trio explore some of Chantil's work including previews of unreleased work and classics from Chantil's albums "In the Beginning" and "Lady and the Champ."
Dukart has performed with leading voices in contemporary music, including Esperanza Spalding, Nikki Glaspie (Beyoncé, Dumpstaphunk), Michael Pilot (Hamilton) and Guggenheim fellow Nicholas Galanin, at notable venues including the Kennedy Center, The Smithsonian, Kuumbwa Jazz Center, the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, and the Mary Lou Williams Jazz Festival.
She currently tours nationally and internationally with the Julia Keefe Indigenous Big Band, Pamyua, and her own project, The Dukes of Art.
