Aura Shards is a world fusion duo based in Brattleboro, Vermont, dedicated to exploring the captivating soundscape of the Hand Pan (also known as the Hang Drum). Blending this modern instrument with a rich array of ancient rhythmic and tonal traditions, Aura Shards creates an immersive musical experience that is both sonically intricate and deeply meditative. Performing entirely original compositions, the group crafts a sound that is rhythmically dynamic and harmonically lush, yet soothing and unobtrusive—ideal for both focused listening and ambient reflection. The duo features Anders Burrows (Hand Pan, Didgeridoo, Djembe) and Jed Blume (Hand Pan, Tabla, Djembe), whose synergistic musicianship bridges contemporary innovation and timeless tradition.
Compass is a genre-defying trio that channels a shared mastery of Indian raga and tala, flamenco, jazz harmony, and deep rhythmic groove into a singular, original voice. At the heart of their music lies a profound exploration of rhythm—drawing from the intricate cycles of North Indian theka and the soulful structures of Spanish compás. Though separated by centuries and geography, these traditions share a rhythmic language that resonates across cultures and eras, a connection that Compass seeks to illuminate.
The name Compass reflects this dual journey: both a literal tool for navigation and a musical framework that guides time and feeling—a way of finding “home” through sound. Featuring James Labrosse (guitar), Tripp Dudley (tabla), and Galen Passen (sitar), the trio blends tradition and innovation through richly woven compositions and spontaneous improvisation. Each piece is an original creation, born from the trio’s deep-rooted knowledge and personal expression, inviting listeners into a conversation that spans continents and centuries.
