Musical Style: American Classical

Celebrate Women’s History Month with an intimate and powerful evening honoring the life and legacy of Florence Price, a groundbreaking American composer whose music bridges classical traditions, Black musical heritage, and deep emotional storytelling.

Through lush melodies, spiritual influences, and richly expressive textures, this concert offers both a celebration and a rediscovery — inviting audiences to experience the brilliance of a composer whose work is finally receiving the recognition it deserves.

Featuring pianist Dawn Clement, vocalist Joslyn Ford Keel, and a string quartet featuring Monique Brooks Roberts, Juliette Jones, Rebekah Durham and Kari Clifton, this program weaves together Florence Price’s solo piano works, art songs, and chamber music, highlighting the breadth and beauty of her voice as a composer.

The first Wednesday of every month at Dazzle celebrates the 250th anniversary of American independence and the 150th anniversary of Colorado’s statehood. It’s storytelling through music that represents different perspectives of the American experience.

By letting the power of music tell the stories of Colorado and America, the concept of patriotism is explored, expanded, and enriched.
